The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has disclosed that it will still go ahead with the planned nationwide strike starting from today December 12th, 2018. This was made known by the National President of the union, Usman Dutse,during an interview with newsmen in Lagos. Mr Dutse said the strike became necessary following the failure of the federal government to implement the 2009 and 2017 agreements reached with the union.

According to him, we are commencing our strike as scheduled. Everything is set and there is no going back. He mentioned that there is an invitation for a meeting on December 17, but the union will still commence the strike today.

“I don’t know what will happen at the meeting or what they have decided, but until we meet with them, we cannot predict. ”I don’t know what they plan to present until we meet with them,” he said.

Mr Duste said the strike would be comprehensive and total, until all issues raised were adequately addressed by the government adding that all members have been issued a notice to comply and down tools by midnight of December 12. and there would be no academic activities in all the polytechnics until further notice.

He listed the demands of the union to include non-implementation of Need Assessment reports of 2014 as agreed with the minister at the meeting of October 2017.

Renegotiation in the union’s 2010 agreement; non-release of arrears of CONTISS 15 migration for the lower cadre; non-release of arrears of promotions and shortfalls in personnel releases as well as non-payment of allowances.

Other agitations are non-payment of salaries in many state-owned polytechnics, non-payment of union check off dues, pension deductions and other statutory deductions from staff salaries to the appropriate bodies, continue victimisation of union officers.

This to notify candidates seeking admission into various tertiary institutions for the 2018/2019 academic session that the JAMB CAPS have been activated for the admission exercise.
This means that candidates can now monitor their admission status and easily know when they have been offered an admission.
Once a candidate has been offered admission, such candidate is required to do either of two things; to accept the admission or to reject it.
Once you accept the admission, your admission quest is over as you will no longer be available for other schools' admission consideration. On the other hand, if you reject the admission, you become available to other schools who have free admission slots for admission consideration.
It is important to note also that candidates who have been offered admission on JAMB CAPS are to equally print their admission letter after accepting the admission, as they will likely need this during clearance and registration in the school that they have been admitted.
We therefore advise candidates to closely monitor their admission status on JAMB CAPS so as to do the needful as soon as possible.
Some schools may not even publish list of admitted candidates on their own portal or notice board. So for candidates that applied for admission in such schools, the only way to know when they have been offered admission is to check their admission status on JAMB CAPS.
HOW TO CHECK ADMISSION STATUS ON JAMB CAPS
1. Visit: http://www.jamb.org.ng/efacility/ and login with your registered email address and password to access your dashboard
2. After you have log in you will see a welcome notice just move down on the page you will see "check 2018 UTME/DE Admission Status on CAPS" . Click on it and you will be redirected to the caps page
3. After clicking on "check 2018 UTME/DE Admission Status on CAPS", you will see a page showing your JAMB details and your admission status, If you have been given admisison, you can now go ahead to accept it or reject it.
Note : If you are using a phone, you may not see the option to check is Admission Status on CAPS, Most phone users may only see the welcome message. The caps page shows only welcome because it requires you to use desktop mode to view the complete page.
This is why the chrome browser is recommended if you are a using a phone. All you need to do is go to Chrome option and choose request desktop site for the complete page to display.

2. Login into your account with your Username and Password. Click on Payment to generate invoice for the application form.

4. Login to your account on-line to confirm payment and complete the on-line PDS application form.
5. Submit the Online application form and print out a copy of the Examination Schedule slip.
a. The application opens on Monday 4th June, 2018 and closes on Friday 21st September, 2018. All awaiting results candidates must upload their results on the www.futa.edu.ng on or before the closing date.

CLOSING DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS
All completed online application forms with the required relevant documents should be submitted to www.futa.edu.ng not later than the closing date (Friday 21st September, 2018).

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed May 26 for mop-up exam for over 12,000 candidates across the country.

The candidates that are qualified to participate in the rescheduled exam are those whose biometrics were not captured during the initial period of the UTME in March,

Also candidates who are yet to see their results since the end of the examinations in March till date and have not been involved in any form of malpractice, those who were unable to print out their e-slip before the earlier examinations and those whose centres were cancelled for suspected malpractices but were not involved in malpractice will also participate.

Those who were involved and caught in illicit acts and centres where a case of malpractice has been established against them would not partake in the rescheduled examinations.

JAMB had earlier sent email and SMS notifications to candidates who are qualified for the exam. If you are not sure whether or not you are qualified for the rescheduled exam, you can proceed to print your e-slip. If you are qualified, you will be able to print the e-slip showing your exam details.

The printing of exam slip commenced today May 21st, 2018.

The management of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has announced the Matriculation Ceremony for students admitted in the 2017/2018 Academic Session.

The ceremony has been scheduled to hold as follows;

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the extension of registration for 2018 UTME till midnight of Sunday, 11th February, 2018

JAMB as a responsive organisation has taken the decision albeit with great hesitation to accommodate candidates who failed to register between the two months window period that ended at midnight of Tuesday, 6th February, 2018.

The failure of these candidates to register is unfortunate and the Board hastens to add that this culture of impunity will not be tolerated henceforth.

Indeed penalty will be imposed for late registration from next session. UTME candidates are therefore strongly advised to take advantage of the extension to register as request for further extension would not be entertained.

Registration for Direct Entry candidates however continues.

The management of The Polytechnic Ibadan has announced Monday January 15 as its resumption date for the 2017/2018 academic session.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. H.A. Fehintola, a copy of which was sent to DAILY POST on Saturday by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole.

The statement titled “The Polytechnic, Ibadan re-opens for 2017/2018 academic session”, instructed candidates who had been offered admission in the institution to log on to its site and effect payment of acceptance fee, beginning from Monday, 8th January, 2018.

The statement added “The Polytechnic, Ibadan will on Monday, 15th January, 2018 re-open for the 2017/2018 Academic Session”.

It stated that “Candidates who had been offered admission should log on to: admission.polyibadan.edu.ng and effect payment of acceptance fee, beginning from Monday, 8th January, 2018.
